    Gigs at Exeter

    For many Exeter alumni, the bands they saw in the Great Hall, The Pit or the Lemmy provide some of the greatest university memories. Over the years we have been lucky enough to hosts bands such as The Who, Pink Floyd, U2, Radiohead and Bob Marley.

    While people reminisce about the gigs they attended and bands they saw, we've never had a concert list before. Now, thanks to alumni Alan Cottee (Geography, ) and Paul O'Carroll (English, History and Sociology, ), we are starting to build one. Thanks to their memories and diaries from the late seventies and early eighties we have begun a list.

    Download-Festival

    Das Download-Festival ist ein dreitägiges Musikfestival, das jährlich im Donington Park in England abgehalten wird und seit stattfindet. Die auftretenden Künstler spielen Rockmusik der verschiedenen Subgenres. Der Donington Park war bereits Spielort für andere Festivals, wie das Monsters of Rock von bis und das Ozzfest

    Geschichte

    Das Download-Festival findet seit jährlich auf der Rennstrecke Donington Park statt. Damit ist es Nachfolger des Monsters of Rock. Die erste Ausgabe war eine Gemeinschaftsveranstaltung der Promoter Stuart Galbraith, Tom Pyke and Andy Copping.[1] Zunächst zweitägig (im Gegensatz zum eintägigen Monsters of Rock) wurde das Festival auf drei Tage ausgedehnt. Das Festival versammelt an diesen drei Tagen zwischen und Rockfans.

    Der Name rührt von einem neuen Marketingkonzept her, das die Veranstalter im Zeitalter des Internets etabliert hatten. Mit den Tickets konnten Audiodateien von den auftretenden Künstlern erworben werden. Als Maskottchen wurde der „Download Dog“ etabliert.[2] Seit gibt es mit dem Download Germany einen deutschen Ableger des Festivals.
